The European Union is stepping up imports of pangasius significantly, and the fish is on its way into Norwegian chilled counters.
During the first 10 months of last year, Vietnam increased its export of pangasius 75 percent in volume compared to the previous year, to around 550,000 metric tons, according to new figures from the United Nations organization Globefish.
Vietnam is the world’s biggest producer; even so, the increase is formidable.
Meanwhile, veterinary inspections in the European Union allegedly found the fish too often contains environmental toxins and medicines.
