For two years, the Norwegian salmon industry has been quietly working on introducing new measures to safeguard market access to Russia. This initiative could now see the light of day.
“The challenge lies in differences in the regulations for inspection of seafood,” Trond Davidsen, director of market access at the Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL) told IntraFish.
“In order to meet the Russians ‘half way’ we have proposed a regime with measures that go beyond those currently practiced by Norwegian authorities,” he said.
