“Enough is enough. More production licenses up the risk for disease,” said Steinar Olaisen, founder of Norwegian aquaculture company Nova Sea, speaking at a conference in Bodo, Norway.
“Besides, the aquaculture industry has a reputation to take care of. Before we expand further, we need to overcome problems such as lice, disease and escapes. Sustainability is the catchword,” said Olaisen.
What is happening in Chile, can happen in Norway, too, he said.
“It is Norwegian players with a mountain of expertise that have contributed towards driving Chile into the ditch," he said.
