Norway's Mattilsynet, or the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, has decided to deny Russian Rosselkhoznadzor vet and biosecurity inspectors' access to pelagic, salmon and trout processing plants, according to Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

Rosselkhoznadzor press secretary Yulia Melano told RIA Novosti that Mattilsynet, "without giving any reasons," banned the inspectors' visit to 14 Norwegian salmon and trout farms, although the checks had been agreed beforehand, reported Unian.net

A notification of Rosselkhoznadzor about the denial was first sent by chief veterinary officer of the Norwegian Food Safety Authority Kristina Landsverk, and then by the Norwegian Embassy in Moscow.
