Importers of Norwegian salmon are in despair over the high kilo prices.
IntraFish understands importers are looking at their options, but whether they will take advantage of these is another matter.
“It’s my belief the EU authorities must protect that part of the EU’s own industry that processes Norwegian salmon. If they do that, they would also be protecting the Norwegian producers against themselves – and that is definitely needed,” one source told IntraFish. He is heavily in on the buyer side, but does not want to fall out with his Norwegian suppliers, and accordingly was not willing to have his name published.
