There's no evidence of foul play, but the perception is widely held in Chile, Bjorn Hersoug, professor at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science,said last week at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum.
Hersoug followed the fisheries industry closely in Chile for a number of years, traveling widely throughout Chile talking to people, not just top executives of seafood companies, but the man on the street.
There’s not a shred of evidence to be found to back up these claims, but these are firmly established rumors circulating among the population in the salmon region of Chiloe, which is the worst hit for ISA, said Hersoug.
