Nordic Aquafarms said it remains on firm legal ground over the construction of a land-based salmon farming project in Belfast, Maine, and is moving forward with the permitting process.

The company underlines its position in documents submitted to the Bureau of Land and Parks (BLP), excerpts of which were released to the press on Thursday.

Opponents of the project claim that BPL and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) should deny Nordic Aquafarms' application because the is a conservation easement crossing the land where the project's intake and outfall pipes are planned to be located.
