The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has hired North Pacific Fisheries Management Council (NPFMC) Executive Director Chris Oliver as its new assistant administrator, and he's slated to begin in mid-June.
Oliver sent an email to NPFMC on Wednesday about the change, but cautioned that "this appointment is still subject to the White House vetting and approval process, which may take a few weeks, so it is not final yet."
Oliver's appointment is thought to bring stability and experience to NMFS during a time of budget and regulatory review.
