At Marine Farms annual general meeting, Nireus was able to win support from shareholders to replace Trygve Bruvik, chairman at Bergen, Norway-based Marine Farms, with Roar Nyhus.
Bruvik’s deputy, Andrew Aaroe, also stepped down.
The meeting was heated, with Bruvik declaring he found it “pointless to have our largest competitors sitting in the boardroom and discussing our acquisition and pricing strategies. It is unnatural that the company's strategy will be open for its biggest competitor," according to Dagens Naeringlsiv.
Nireus has owned a shareholding in Marine Farms for two years, and is the largest shareholder with just over 32 percent.
