The European Aquaculture Technology Platform, (EATP) is expected to help its members gain access to major funds for research and development (R&D).
Established in early November, European Fisheries Commissioner Joe Borg acknowledged the significance of such an organization.
“The Commission warmly welcomes the work currently underway to establish a technology platform for aquaculture, involving not only the aquaculture community, but also fish feed producers, providers of equipment, researchers, NGOs and other stakeholders,” Borg said.
One of EATP’s most important tasks is to coordinate and bolster European research in aquaculture.
