Russian inspectors and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) have reached agreement allowing Norwegian companies to be inspected and, if meeting standards, potentially being allowed to resume exports to Russia through Belarus.

A total of 18 inspectors from Russia and Belarus arrived in Norway Sept. 21 and are expected to stay until Oct. 1, after a summary meeting with NFSA.

The delegation is large, which is noteworthy given Russia's  ban on direct imports of Norwegian seafood and a number of products from the west, in response to Western sanctions against Russia due to the conflict in the Ukraine.
