New England plans to triple UK African tilapia sales

UK importer New England Seafood plans to triple its sales of tilapia supplied from Zimbabwean farmer Lake Harvest, its commercial director said.

New England is importing small volumes of tilapia from Lake Harvest -- around 250 metric tons of fillets -- but has a business plan to increase this three-fold over the next two years, James Robinson, its commercial director, told IntraFish.

“The mild flavor and flaky texture of tilapia means it is suitable for UK tastes. The only unusual thing is really the name,” he said.
