Florida-based seafood distributor Netuno USA put sustainability in its forefront a few years ago when it started an internal sustainability policy for its business procedures in 2012. Its end goal is to achieve Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for several of its products.

This month is the one-year mark since Netuno started fundraising for its Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for Caribbean red snapper. Andre Brugger, Netuno's coordinator for sustainability, traceability and certification program, said the species’ pre-assessment began July 2013.

Netuno imports and distributes worldwide 4-5 million pounds of Caribbean red snapper per year.
