MSNBC.com’s homepage article on tainted seafoods entering the U.S., published Wednesday in partnership with News21, struck a nerve with National Fisheries Institute (NFI).
The article stated that “filthy seafood infected with bacteria or tainted with drugs and antibiotics banned in the U.S” is landing on Americans’ plates, an idea NFI spokesman Gavin Gibbons called out for hyperbole and inaccuracies.
“We ask that you immediately remove the report while you conduct an internal review,” he wrote in a letter to the news network.
