The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is setting up its first China office as part of plans to increase the market share of MSC-labeled products, the organization said.

The idea is still fresh and it is not known when or where the China office will be located, Nicolas Guichoux, who heads the MSC’s Europe activities, told IntraFish.

“We have just recruited our first Asia director, Kevin Ng,” Guichoux said. Ng, who comes from a foodservice background, will start on Monday (May 14) and will be based in Singapore, he said.

“Our intention is to look at China immediately, but I can’t tell you right now when we are going to open an office.
