It’s time to fill in a glaring hole in the Marine Stewardship Council's (MSC) recent report on consumer recognition of its eco-label – what exactly happened in the United States, the third largest seafood market in the world?

Results from a market research survey, sent to IntraFish by the MSC, reveal consumer awareness of the organization’s signature blue label declined by 2 percent over the past two years, from 23 percent in 2010 to 21 percent in 2012.

Awareness in Canada – another data point left out of the MSC's original news release – also dropped, from 22 percent in 2010 to 19 percent in 2012.
