After unveiling a joint standard for seaweed in November, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) are considering future collaboration.

Specifically, the two groups are looking at developing a joint standard for bivalves such as molluscs and shellfish, Nicolas Guichoux, global commercial director at the MSC, told IntraFish.

A couple of years ago the MSC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ASC for closer collaboration on finding efficiencies and added value for users of both ASC and MSC-certified products, and the new seaweed standard was borne out of this.
