"There is no outbreak of EMS [early mortality syndrome] in India," Raja Sekhar Vundru, joint secretary at the department of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture India, told IntraFish in the wake of reports EMS is allegedly present in shrimp farms.
"That is our position," he said. But when asked why the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) -- a governmental body -- was introducing new measures to "prevent/limit the spread of EMS" he conceded the agency had found some "suspected incidences."
"Our
