Mozambique’s government plans to triple the country’s production over the next 10 years, reports Faro de Vigo.

“In the next 10 years, it is possible that we reach more than 1 million metric tons a year as a result of increased landings of native species, and also farmed species,” said Agustin Mondlane, the country's minister of sea, interior waters and fishing.

Production in 2016 amounted to 300,000 metric tons.

Grupo Pescanova operates 32 vessels in the country through its subsidiary Pescamar. It has plans to renew its fleet there by 2020.
