Norwegian salmon giant Mowi has begun slaughtering stocks at a farm in at Aukrasanden in Norway's More og Romsdal region after a suspected outbreak of infectious salmon anemia (ISA) was confirmed.

Mowi remains in dialogue with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority on progress to empty the entire plant of fish, Mowi Communication Manager Eivind Nævdal-Bolstad said in an email.

The site has around 1.3 million fish, with an average weight of 3.5 kilograms. It was unclear at the time of writing whether these fish would be sold.
