Mid-size U.S. processor joins the big dogs

A mid-size Rhode Island-based fish processing and distribution company has joined ranks with the top U.S. food vendors.

Mariner Seafood received 2011 U.S. Foods Functional Excellence Award in the foods safety and quality assurance category, putting it on par with Trident Seafoods and one step below Aqua Star in the awards brackets. Trident won the Functional Excellence Award for business friendliness, while  Aqua Star won U.S. Foods Vendor of the Year Award for seafood. PepsiCo won the vendor of the year award for beverages.
