The farmed Mexican shrimp sector hopes this year will show improved recovery from being hit by Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) a few years ago.
Back in 2008 and 2009, farmed shrimp production was 130,000 metric tons -- an important contributor to global supply.
"It climbed somewhat and then dropped to 55,000-60,000 metric tons in 2013 at the height of EMS," Bill Hoenig, VP sales and operations at Delta Blue Aquaculture, told IntraFish.
By 2015, shrimp production had bounced back to about 100,000 metric tons.
"The
