US suppliers of Alaska pollock's core products saw some major shifts in recent years in terms of markets, Mike Breivik, CEO of Glacier Fish Company, told delegates at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) in Bergen last week.

Production of blocks, both fillets and mince, is down by more than 9,000 metric tons. More than 50 percent are still exported, mainly into Europe, which however has been facing "numerous challenges."

The market in the United States remained robust, he said.

Surimi production on the other hand has been up almost 19,000 metric tons, or 10 percent.
