The share price of Nutreco, Marine Harvest’s largest supplier of feed, dived 6 percent on news the salmon giant is mulling a move into feed production.

The news was announced on Tuesday morning, just hours before Nutreco's scheduled annual general meeting.

If Marine Harvest does carry out its plan, it would be a huge blow to the three largest salmon feed producers, Nutreco-owned Skretting, Cermaq-owned Ewos and Biomar.

Marine Harvest is Nutreco's largest client, representing 15 percent to 20 percent of its fish feed revenues, one analyst said.
