Marine Harvest CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog on Wednesday admitted the contract to supply fresh and smoked salmon to Sainsbury's outlets nationwide was "a little beyond our capability."

But the company managed to deliver to the retailer's expectations, the executive announced in presenting the company's fourth quarter results.

In June 2015, Marine Harvest Consumer Products announced it won a contract worth £100 million (€128.5 million/$143.1 million) with the UK retailer, taking over from long-time supplier Young’s Seafood.

Production at the Rosyth factory in Scotland was expanded extensively as a consequence of the contract, and the number of employees increased from 90 to 350 employees.
