Sources familiar with the situation told IntraFish Marine Harvest USA Managing Director Rafael Puga, a fixture in the farmed salmon industry, will retire from the company Wednesday.

His duties reportedly will split for the time being between Edgard Beyer, director of new business development, and Controller Edgar Van Denberg, both of whom work from the company's Miami offices.

Puga has distinguished himself over the years with his efforts developing the U.S. market for salmon products from Chile.

He began working with Fjord Seafood following that firm's acquisition of Puga's company, Windward Seafood.
