Marine Harvest leaves EU salmon smokers association

Marine Harvest and all its related companies -- now operating under Marine Harvest Consumer Products -- has resigned from the European Salmon Smokers Association (ESSA), Emilia Schomburg, marketing communications manager at Morpol, told IntraFish.

"As the largest salmon smoker in Europe we feel that ESSA does not represent the interests of the entire European industry and has deviated from their original mandate," she said. 

"We do not wish to be currently associated with this organization."

ESSA writes on its website it is representing companies from EU member states.
