Marine Harvest has been given the green light to begin building its new €110 million ($116 million) feed plant in Scotland, and is also considering an additional fishmeal and fish oil facility.

The Scottish feed plant was granted planning permission by The Highland Council’s North Planning Applications Committee on Feb. 21.

Construction will start by the end of March and the plant is expected to be completed during 2018. The feed plant will employ 55 people.

"I’m delighted with the positive decision from the local authority and even more heartened by the overwhelming support we have had from the local community,” said Ben Hadfield, chief operating officer feed and managing director of Marine Harvest Scotland.
