With its new plant in France, Marine Harvest will work closely with retailers in Europe to develop salmon products in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), said Ola Brattvoll, chief operating officer for Marine Harvest in sales and marketing.
The plan in Boulogne-sur-Mer, which opened in May, has a capacity to double its current level of 12,000 metric tons.
“This is a segment that we think has a lot of potential. We think there are many possibilities on salmon as a pre-packed product,” Brattvoll told IntraFish.
