Malaysia’s local shrimp industry stands to lose more than $156 million (€118.1 million) in revenue each year should the United States (US) impose a 54.5 percent anti-dumping duty on Oct 1, 2013.

Shrimp exports to the US make up 43.84 percent of Malaysian shrimp sold overseas, Syed Omar Syed Jaafar, president of the Malaysia Shrimp Industry Association told local newspaper StarBiz.

In 2012, nearly 27,500 metric ton of Malaysian shrimp were exported to the US market, while the total local output was 65,000 metric tons.
