River & Glen, a sustainable seafood purveyor owned and operated by MacKnight, Inc.* founder James MacKnight, has gone into bankruptcy, the executive told IntraFish.

"The company is officially closed," MacKnight said, adding he is working with lenders "everyday" to reach arrangements with creditors.

MacKnight founded the Pennsylvania-based distributor seven years ago, with a focus on sustainable seafoods aimed at high-end restaurants and retailers.

Seafood products ranged from gourmet smoked Norwegian and Scottish salmon, fresh salmon, sablefish and halibut, caviar and oysters. Scotland's Loch Duart and Gigha Island Halibut were among the group's suppliers.
