Harvests of Dungeness crab in Oregon will most likely be meager this year, fishermen report.
“There aren’t many crabs, we’ve found, during the last week since we’ve been working,” Rex Leach, who has decades of experience fishing for Dungeness in Oregon, told IntraFish. “The first time we go through our gear there are (usually) 100 pounds per pot…When we started (this year), we averaged 40 pounds per pot, and next time it’ll be less than that—maybe two or three crabs per pot,” Leach said.
