Justin Boevers, longtime program director with NGO FishChoice, announced this week his last day with the nonprofit will be Oct. 18.

"I've spent almost a decade building up FishChoice to be one of the largest sustainable seafood programs for the supply chain," he told IntraFish. The platform helps businesses find their own seafood sustainability assessments.

Boevers said he is now looking to work on other challenges in seafood, which will include helping the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) with a project around its Fish Source platform.

The contract will be part-time while Boevers explores new career options, including independent consulting, he said.

Boevers has led the growth of FishChoice's platform, which says it reaches a network of dozens of sustainable seafood programs, hundreds of seafood suppliers, and thousands of businesses. Prior to FishChoice, he worked for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), where he managed the progress of Walmart’s industry-leading sustainable seafood commitment.
