Most smoked salmon companies would agree: the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) monitors the sector closely, and isn't afraid to pounce on positive results.

Jason Strachman Miller, who heads up strategic communications and public engagement for the FDA, told IntraFish the agency definitely has more authority than in the past, and that's giving it license to be more stringent.
