Lab-grown salmon company Wild Type secured a further $12.5 million (€11.4 million) investment in its second round of funding.

Investors include Maven Ventures and renewed support from its seed investors, including Spark Capital and Root Ventures.

The company also announced the appointment of bio-engineering investment specialist George Zachary to its board of directors. He currently works for Wild Type venture capital backer CRV, and his past experience includes work at social media giant Twitter.

The company is also expanding its chef collaborator community across the United States after debuted its first lab-grown salmon in Portland, Oregon, in June.
