Alaska salmon processor Kwik’pak Fisheries is expecting an increase in sales this salmon season on the back of strong salmon run predictions.
“It’s supposed to be a very good season,” Ruth Carter, Kwik’pak fisheries sales manager, told IntraFish. “We’re anticipating higher volumes than we had last year.”
Based on Alaska Department Fish and Game (ADFG) projections, Carter estimates the salmon supply will be up by one-third over last year. As for earnings projections, that all depends upon the price that is established, and farmed salmon prices will undoubtedly have an impact.
