Jan. 15 2003 - The Wave News Network - Kmart Corp. said Tuesday it plans to close 60 Kmart supercenters along with 266 discount stores as part of its plan of reorganization to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection by April 30, according to a report by Supermarket News.
Industry sources told SN they expect Kmart will eventually shut down the 57 remaining supercenters, but keep the dry grocery selection as part of the basic format at its Big K stores.
