Outsourcing processing to Asia is not part of the strategy for Nippon Suisan Kaisha (Nissui)-US subsidiary, King and Prince Seafood.
Brunswick, Georgia-based King and Prince is looking to optimize its processing in the United States to compete with companies relying on imported products, betting on increased demand for US-processed seafood.
“Overseas plants’ capacity will increasingly fill needs within their own domestic markets,” said Volker Kuntzsch, president of Nippon Suisan USA and also president and CEO at King and Prince.
Processing more in your own plant gives a shorter supply chain and a reduced risk of out-of-stock for customers, he told IntraFish.
