Kim Gorton, president and CEO of US seafood manufacturer, importer and distributor Slade Gorton, was named chairman of the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) board at the NFI Global Seafood Market Conference in Miami.
Gorton replaced Gorton's Judson Reis in the role. She is only the second woman to serve in this post; Handy International Vice President Carol Haltaman served as the chairman several years ago.
"The seafood industry immediately appealed to me," Gorton told IntraFishduring her "Women in Seafood" interview.
"I think it was a combination of the incredible people I got to interact with, some characters for sure, but some of the best people I've ever met, and the tangible nature of what we do – that had me hooked."
