The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) on Jan. 19 informed the country’s buyers and retailers of its decision to not recertify salmon to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard, and again mentioned it in a newsletter last week.

So far, according to ASMI Director Ray Riutta, most Japanese buyers have taken a “wait and see” attitude on the MSC announcement, and are instead focused on the ASMI label, and how they can incorporate that into their supply chain.
