Marine Harvest shareholders approved the proposal to change the name of the company to Mowi as of Jan.1, at an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) held Tueday.

As part of the name change, Marine Harvest will invest €35 million ($39.5 million) into launching a global brand.

The hope is the "superior" branded product range will add around €1 billion ($1.1 billion) to the company's revenues by 2025, and €100 million ($113 million) in additional earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT).
