Sernapesca, Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service has implemented measures to prevent the spread of a suspected ISA virus discovery at AquaChile's Cahueldao site.

Infectious salmon anemia (ISA)

ISA is a viral disease among Atlantic salmon caused by Salmon isavirus. Different strains affect fish farms in Norway, Scotland, Chile and Canada. ISA virus causes severe anemia in infected fish.

Salmon develop pale gills and may swim close to the water surface, gulping for air without showing signs of illness before dying suddenly.
