Infectious salmon anemia (ISA) disease may have been detected at fish farms located in Vestvagoy, Nordland County in Norway.

Suspicion is directed at farm sites 32737 Heldalen and 11205 Oterholmen I operated by Lofoten Sjoprodukter and Lofoten Salmon AS.

Restrictions have been imposed on the sites including a ban on moving fish unless with specifically authorized permission. The control area has already been established through a regulation enforced May 7, 2013, according to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA).

“As a means to prevent spread of infection the farm sites have had restrictions imposed that includes a ban on moving fish without specially approved permission.
