'ISA came from Norway'

Isaksen referred to the fact salmon does not originate naturally from Chile; it is an introduced species. The salmon disease ISA comes under the same category, he said.

“I think ISA in Norway and Chile have, at some stage, a common background. Some researchers have pointed this out in their articles. But I don’t know how ISA came to Chile -- or when it happened. The disease can in fact have been there for a very long time before it was detected in July 2007,” he told IntraFish.
