Sumber Asia Trading, based in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia, started canning seafood in 2006. The company plans to have its own fishing fleet by 2015, deputy director Charlie Singgih told IntraFish in the Busan International Seafood & Fisheries Expo 2011.
"We might buy vessels or we might have new ones built, we haven't decided," he said.
The type of vessel will depend on whether the company looks to expand its sardine or its tuna business, he said.
Initially, it was only selling to the Indonesian market, Singgih told IntraFish.
