Prices for vannamei shrimp in India have reached “rock bottom” and are only now starting to edge their way back up again, according to industry players.
One major US shrimp buyer told IntraFish prices have been coming down since October 2014, ultimately by as much as 25 percent, but “right now they have hit the bottom,” he said.
As a result, for the past three or four weeks raw material prices in India have started to go up again.
“By the trends we are seeing in India and other producing countries, the raw material prices seem to be improving, so one thing is for sure prices have hit rock bottom," he said.
“I
