Even though the monsoons are intensifying in Gujarat, India, the country's overall total production of shrimp will not be impacted, but individual farmers in the area are suffering financially, industry veteran Manjor Sharma told IntraFish.

More than 200 hectares of shrimp ponds were washed away thanks to recent flooding in the region.

"There won't be much impact on the total volumes produced but it is a total loss for the individual shrimp farmers in the area," Sharma explained.

In the case of a natural flood, usually the working shrimp crop is completely washed away and farmers lose their chances of harvesting anything.
