Now that the Alaska Salmon Processors Association (ASPA) has denied a Trident Seafoods-led coalition of Alaska's largest salmon processors access to the use of the MSC eco-label for salmon, few options remain for the coalition.

In its letter to the processors, ASPA suggested what most consider the only viable alternative the Trident-led group has, which is to obtain its own separate, parallel MSC salmon certification.

"Among the options and alternatives is the option to establish a new client group and start a second assessment of the fishery.
