Marine Harvest, which was recently turned down for a site that would hold 7,020 metric tons in Smola municipality, has applied to establish a farm site at Haaoya, Hitra municipality, with a maximum permitted biomass (MPB) of 5,460 metric tons. This is a new site, IntraFish reported in February this year.
It now appears Marine Harvest is meeting a great deal of local opposition.
A number of holiday cabin owners have written a letter to the county administration office protesting against the location of the farm.
