Never before have prices varied so much between large and small salmon. Prices paid for large fish are the best they’ve been yet, according to Fish Pool Managing Director Soren Martens.
Last week, the Nasdaq price for sizes 5-6 (superior quality) was as high as NOK 47.84 (€6.10/$8.10) per kilogram, almost NOK 12 (€1.50/$2) more than the price for size 3-4, which was NOK 36.00 (€4.60/$6.10).
“From the time they started reporting prices at the Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL)/NOS in 1995, there has never been a greater difference in prices as there is now,” Martens told IntraFish.
